Democratic National Committee v. Trump
Case Overview
The League of United Latin American Citizens sued the Trump administration over President Trump's elections executive order which purports to regulate federal elections by directing the Election Assistance Commission to require a citizenship document to register to vote. This case was consolidated with similar suits brought by the DNC and the League of Women Voters Education Fund.

The Application
Plaintiffs challenge whether the EO lawfully directs the EAC (an independent agency) to impose new voter registration requirements when citizenship is already federally mandated; whether the requirement was adopted through proper APA procedures; and whether it effectively commandeers state election officials in violation of federalism principles and voters' statutory rights.
The Conclusion
The case remains active in the D.C. District Court before Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly, consolidated with parallel suits by the DNC and League of Women Voters Education Fund, with the court to adjudicate whether the EO exceeds executive authority and election law requirements.
